Beginning of Negotiations

Dear Boeing Brothers and Sisters,

Monday your Bargaining Committee began its meetings with the Boeing Company in sub-committees. Both sides have begun to pass proposals across the table this week as we methodically begin the process of negotiating a new contract.

You can find our contract survey results and up to date SpeedFacts at our Union Web Site www.iam837.org. The Company will also have a website, theirs will be slanted, so please use the District website for updates.

I want everyone to remember that the negotiation process is full of ups and downs and I ask all of you to remain united. Remember that your bargaining committee is only as strong as your willingness to stand strong and supportive. Do not hesitate to let your Managers know your opinions on all of the negative Company proposals. And please keep in mind that the picture painted by the Company may not be what it seems.

If you have not ordered your Contract T-shirt you may do so by seeing your Shop Steward. The cost of the T-Shirt is $5 per and 1 per member. We will also be giving you a contract lanyard and a bumper sticker. The Shirts and lanyards should be available NEXT WEEK.

A Quality Work Force Deserves a Quality Contract.

Fraternally yours,
Gordon King
President Directing Business Representative
