Dear Boeing Brothers and
Sisters,
As negotiations with Boeing continue, the District is preparing
for the worst as we must. Picket duty assignments are in work this week
and I want to thank all the members who took the time to make their
request for duty day and time. I want to remind everyone that in
accordance with the By-laws and International Constitution, Strike Duty
assignments are made by the District dependent on the needs to maintain
an effective strike. To be eligible for strike pay, the member will have
to work the assigned duty each week.
It is our desire to assign the members day and times that match
the preferred assignment from the sheets turned in last week. With the
limited number of slots in popular time slots, 12% of the members did
not get their first or second choice assignments. The District reserve
assigned a “similar” day/time to these members, however; I want to give
those 12% a chance to look at other remaining time slots and choose one
most to their liking.
Your District website has a link on the home page to a list of members eligible to request a different slot and the current reserved assignment made for them. If your name is on this list, we encourage you to look at the webpage linked from there showing other available slots and, if you want, to request one of those other slots by e-mailing, calling 314-731-0603 ext. 123, or giving your Shop Steward a letter indicating your name and the slot(s) you would prefer. The website is: www.iam837.org
Your response is needed by May 21, 2010. After that, the reserved
slot will be your assignment and remaining open slots will be filled. If
you do not have access to the internet, please ask your Shop Steward or
Plant Chairman for assistance. On May 25, 2010, all strike assignments
should be posted on the web.
Thank you for your support during these difficult
negotiations,
Fraternally yours,
Gordon King
President Directing Business Representative
