Negotiations Update
Dear Boeing Brothers and
Sisters,
We were able to reach tentative agreements with the
Company this week on several language proposals. Below are some of the
highlights:
- Company agreed to withdraw its proposal to delete Supplemental Understanding #12 on the Employment Security for the Support Labor Grade.
- Company agreed to a language change that reduces the right to exercise shift bump from 12 to 9 months.
- Company agreed to “No change” for the language that covers the layoff procedures of new classifications.
- Company has agreed to maintain the letters currently in the contract from Steve Jacques regarding the layoff process under the Labor Grade Model and Flight Labor Grade security related to movement of any work they currently perform.
- The Company has also agreed to meet with the Union quarterly to address our members’ problems with TotalAccess.
In meetings regarding the Job Specifications of
each classification the Company and the Union has tentatively agreed to
minor changes or “no change” to all but 6 classifications. The six that
remain open are; Leadman, Munition Mechanic, SMAR, PMC, MHS and Support
Coordinator.
There are many open proposals remaining for both sides and these proposals will now be moved to the main table of negotiations.
I have had conversations with our Union Brothers
and Sisters within the UAW from UAW Local 148 in Long Beach about their
decision to strike the Boeing Company. Unless major changes are reached
during main table negotiations we may face the same decisions here with
regard to Retention and Overtime Pay and we have yet to see what the
Company has in store to attack us with in Economics or Benefits. I spoke
with the Company about the impact the strike in Long Beach could have on
C-17 production here in St. Louis and have been told there is no plan to
have any layoffs at this time. Instead the Company intends to reduce or
eliminate overtime on the C-17 program and additionally offer “O” days
when necessary. I will keep you posted on any new developments.
