UPDATE ON NEGOTIATIONS

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Before we broke for the Holiday weekend, the Union presented the Company with our Economic and Benefits proposals.

Tuesday we spent time answering the Company’s questions on our proposed changes. We are awaiting a counter on our Economics and Benefits from the Company. The Company offered to withdraw the Retention language and presented a proposal for a new classification called a “Prototype Mechanic” to be used for proprietary projects.

This is what it looks like:

·         The Prototype classification will be populated by the Builder Mockup & Tooling and Tooling Mechanics that are currently assigned to Proprietary programs as well as new hires. The Builder Mockup & Tooling will be reclassified as Prototype Mechanic.

·         All other classifications that populate Proprietary projects today will be assigned to perform their factory job descriptions work.

·         In the event of a layoff, employees working in the Proprietary programs would be transferred into Prototype Mechanic Lieu of Layoff (TILLO). TILLO employees will retain the right to return to their original classification for 5 years.

Keep in mind this is a new Company proposal. The union has not agreed to anything in regards to the new classification. We will keep you updated as negotiations continue.

Also, still on the table is the Company’s proposal to expand the flexibility of the Munitions Mechanic scope of work outside their current Job Specifications.

The Company continues to hold its position that employees must work 40 hours in a week before overtime pay is received.

We have tentatively agreed to a company proposal on mandatory direct deposit, with the understanding that any paycheck shortages including overtime, will be direct deposited within 3 business days of notification.

Brothers and Sisters, the Union is working hard to negotiate a contract that protects Seniority and rewards you for the highly-skilled work you perform.

It is absolutely vital that the membership remain united and resist the Company’s proposal to divide and conquer. Make your voices heard in the shop.

Continue to wear Negotiation T-shirt every Wednesday in support of Bargaining Committee.

A Quality Work Force Deserves a Quality Contract.

Fraternally yours,
Gordon King
