Strike Captains will be the Senior Watch Officer for all strike activities.
Strike Captains work directly for Kenny Krolik, DeWitt Darity, and Steve McDerman.
Strike Captains have agreed to work one eight hour shift per week. Start times will be determined before a strike begins
Strike Captains Shift Schedules will be coordinated with Kenny Krolik. In the event that you cannot make your shift, Kenny Krolik is your first point of contact. The back-up contact is DeWitt Darity.
Strike Captains will oversee all activities that occur on District property during their shift.
Strike Captains will have a radio to communicate directly with Security.
Strike Captains will ensure that buses are loaded and depart on time.
Strike Captains will interface with external news media until they are properly parked along the northeast drive and have been pointed to the Communicator or Security Agent located just inside the main entrance to the District offices.
Strike Captains will be responsible for resolving conflicts and making judgment calls for all non-standard issues that arise on their shift.
In the event that an issue occurs that cannot be resolved, the Strike Captain will contact a Business Agent as soon as possible for a clear answer.
The Strike Captain on watch will be notified of all Security alerts both on District property and at picket sites.
Strike Captains will notify Security for assistance with unruly or hostile situations.
Strike Captains will assist DeWitt Darity in the distribution of IAM Strike Paychecks. Strike Captains will ensure that Security is present during the hours of operation whereby members can receive their checks.
Strike Captains will be responsible for adjusting manpower to cover critical shortages during their watch. The order of priority for coverage shall be: Vehicle Drivers, Security, Communications, Sign-in, Parking, and then Picket Gate Coverage, however, will ensure each gate has at least two picketers before filling the other positions. The Strike Captain is the fail-safe decision point for staffing.
Strike Captains will file a written report of any hostile activities that take place on District property and turn the report into Security before they leave their shift. The report will include the names of those involved and the circumstances surrounding the event to the best of their knowledge.
Strike Captains will ensure that our transportation vehicles, Security, Emergency Vehicles, or news media uses the drive on the East side of the Hall and no other vehicles are parked there.
The Strike Captain for the first AM shift will pick-up and review the previous days signed check-in sheets and deliver to the District Secretary-Treasurers Office.
